A giant appeal

Supporting a huge opportunity for nature to thrive in Dorset

The National Trust recently launched an successful fundraising campaign to secure and protect land surrounding the iconic Cerne Abbas Giant. The funds will provide a rare opportunity to restore habitats, support biodiversity, and open up access to a significant landscape in Dorset. As Creative Designer on the campaign, I was responsible for developing a distinctive creative concept that would capture public attention and drive widespread support.

A cheeky side

The concept was brought to life through a range of campaign touchpoints, most notably a bespoke pin badge sent to supporters. The badges I designed became both a fundraising mechanism and a piece of campaign storytelling—small, collectible, and inherently conversation-starting.

Alongside this, the wider campaign system balanced playful creative with messaging around scale, impact, and urgency—highlighting the size of the opportunity and the tangible benefits for nature.

The campaign resonated strongly with audiences, generating high levels of engagement and widespread press attention. The pin badge proved especially popular, reinforcing the effectiveness of using humour and cultural insight to deepen emotional connection and encourage participation.
